If you watch one Docu this year it has to be 'Off the Rails'
Amazing story of Darius McCollum who suffers from Aspergers syndrome and he's addicted to the New York metro system of busses and Subway.
Proper funny, sad and eventually heartwrenching account of his life from driving trains etc to being in prison for probably the rest of his life.

It's on Amazon Prime here in the UK.

Trailer is here:

I've not read about it on here, mates have told me about it.

Kearley 3:20 - Hardly a spolier as theres no plot.

Need to check out Hyper-normalisation as so many people have mentioned that.

13th is on Netflix so will watch that over the weekend.

Perhaps because you waited until post number 44 to put up your recommendations?

Will check those out at some point.

How the fuck can a thread about documentaries get to 44 posts without even mentioning Adam Curtis?

'The Trap', 'Power of nightmares', 'Bitter Lake' and his recent 'Hyper-normalisation' (which is mainly about Trump and Assad) are all fantastic.

Not strictly a documentary, but even if you don't really like him, spend an hour watching the Bob Monkhouse program currently on iPlayer.

Absolute master-class in stand-up comic delivery, even if poignant (to us older gits).

Loved 'The Killer Years' too.

"Hey, we've developed a really fast car that is covered in magnesium. Fancy taking it for a spin?"

Really good documentary and often watched before I watch Senna.

One of the best sports documentaries which still pops up now and again, on BBC 4 I think, is:

F.1 The killer years.

Well worth watching if you have not seen it.

Apparently for a period in the late 60'sand early 70's a Grand Prix driver's chance of getting killed in any one season was 7/1 - scary

King of Kong is excellent. Indie Game is a similar(ish) genre and worth a watch although there are some incredibly annoying people in it.

Re: If you watch one Docu this year it has to be 'Off the Rails'
Thanks, joe.

I don't use iPlayer as they don't make a Unix flavoured one.

I do have a simple program that finds stuff on the BBC site then downloads it, but it can't find that particular program by name, PIC (b08650s0, here) or index number. The BBC iPlayer site does list it though on it's list of programmes.

Guess I'll just have to fire up Windows and install iPlayer or get it elsewhere.

Watched that `13th` tonight.... thought it was ok nothing more... no real shocks was there as everyone knows the score and what is going on ... I reckon the percentage of non whites in our jails are way above average as well... one thing for sure is that doc' will be wasted on Trump and his supporters.... big time
